As Democratic Committee District Leader for Northwest City I was not invited to Mayor Harris' candidacy announcement. Mayor Harris is again seeking the Democratic nomination for Mayor of Roanoke City. I thought maybe I missed the announcement in my "in box" ... nope, not there. I checked my phone messages, nope nary a one.
.
I called other members in my District and other Districts and nope they were not invited either.
.
What am I thinking we were Bowers supporters at the Democratic Committee's reorganization so I guess all that unifying talk was just that ... "talk".
.
Then again The Roanoke Times and WDBJ7 reported that Mayor Harris was surrounded by 30 officials and members of the business community. Not a "working class" citizen to be found in the bunch. I hope they enjoyed their unifying moment.

Your good, Valerie! If this does not underscore the lack of ANY intention to "reach out" to others, I don't know what does. BTW, did you get invited to Wyatt's announcment? And did I read somewhere Cranwell's was today? Were you invited there? And I saw that A. Price is going to hold a rally also. Invited to that one? What's the scoop on FirzP? That would be 6 prospects with 4 slots. So who will get left out? My bet is Lea for certain. The next one is more difficult. For someone who claims to have a focus on education, Wyatt sure has been a failure. That's bad, but she has strongly stood behind Harris. Cranwell is essential so Harris can leverage himself into a higher office with strong support of the senior Mr. C. I think he's "in".
Price is too much the "ideal" political candidate even though she seems to be detached from most of the issue Roanoke faces. She's in. FitzP's in if he wants to be so that leaves Wyatt out. Which is probably the way Harris would like it. Wyatt just does not fit the mold of one of Roanokes "best" political leaders...in more ways that one!
The notion that Wishneff would run again is almost funny. But then if there were another 5 GOOD prospects, it might prove a Harris tactic of "splitting" the vote could work. But probably not.
