The City of Roanoke purchased Countryside Golf Course in 2005. Since then they have had one developer withdraw and one developer rejected after multiple deadline extensions. The golf course continues to operate until November 2009. The next City Council will decide the community’s fate.

Good luck Valerie! I did see that Bowers is in but the expected slate of candidates has not surfaced as far as I know. If that is correct and it remains so, I think there is a serious opportunity for you two "I's" to do some damage to the Harrisites. I guess it is noble of you to say you are not running against anyone but FOR a position. It's probably just a smart move as well. But I would have a hard time keeping my mouth shut on some things. There is a serious shadow over Harris right now and the results of the "audit" should be interesting. From what I read, Rosen is his new man. It would sure be tempting to go after Rosen in very specific terms. If Price is her own person and Lea has not sold out as some feel, Garner, Lea and Price...what a deal for the City of Roanoke.
Well, they tell me Wishneff is back in the picture as is Anita Powell. Who is Anita Powell? But more importantly, who has pushed her into running as a vote splitter? Maybe the business community that wants Harris to win and apparently this candidate is too unenlightened (that's the nice word) to see what's happening here. With ONE candidate for Mayor, Bowers could win, but not with Powell in the picture who will pull votes from Bowers making Harris a winner again.
I think I'll sign out of Roanoke politics for good now.
